Students whose VET qualification training and assessment will involve them successfully working in industries such as construction or plumbing will need to be issued with a white card (or general construction induction card.)
To be able to issue white cards to students, your school RTO needs to:
- have CPCWHS1001 — Prepare to work safely in the construction industry unit on your scope of registration as part of either Construction, Plumbing and Services (CPC) or non-CPC training package qualifications that require that explicit competency
- ensure that your trainers and assessors hold the CPCCOHS2001A — Apply OHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry competency
- using the VET app in the QCAA Portal, add the unit to the appropriate qualification in your school RTO’s scope as an explicitly listed unit of competency
- once the added unit has been approved and added to Training.gov.au, enter into an agreement with Workplace Health and Safety Queensland to be able to issue white cards.
Note: New conditions for issuance of a white card or general construction induction training (GCIT) card have been in place since 1 August 2023.
