The Assessment literacy program of professional learning is developed by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) to support the assessment practices of Queensland teachers. The seven Assessment literacy modules are online, self-paced and interactive. They are suitable for teachers, school leaders and assessors.
The program supports the QCAA’s commitment to ensuring valid, accessible and reliable curriculum and assessment with a focus on the quality assurance and assessment processes for summative internal and external assessment in the senior phase of learning.
The modules can be accessed in the QCAA Portal via the Assessment Literacy tile.
Assessment literacy modules
- Module 1 — Attributes of quality assessment. It must be successfully completed to access Module 2 and/or Module 3.
- Module 2 — Developing valid and accessible assessment
- Module 3 — Making reliable judgments
- Module 4 — Endorsement
- Module 5 — Confirmation
- Module 6 — External assessment writing
- Module 7 — External assessment marking.
After successfully completing the Assessment literacy program, teachers will be eligible to apply to QCAA for assessor roles. More information on assessor roles and the application process is available on the QCAA assessors page.

University recognition
CQUniversity Australia
Teachers who successfully complete Modules 1, 2 and 3 will be eligible for exemptions within the first unit of the Master of Educational Neuroscience or Graduate Certificate of Educational Neuroscience at CQUniversity. Teachers who successfully complete Modules 4, 5, 6 and 7 will be eligible for credit of the first unit towards these qualifications, upon Application for Credit Transfer.

Queensland University of Technology
Teachers will be eligible for some credit of general advanced standing towards a Graduate Certificate of Education or Master of Education at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), if they successfully complete the following Assessment literacy modules and their associated assessments:
- at least Modules 1 and 2, or Modules 1 and 3 and
- Modules 4 and 5; or
- Modules 6 or 7.
In addition, candidates must also undertake a sufficient amount of applied practice in the relevant QCAA role/s.

Griffith University
Applicants who successfully complete Modules 1-7 and can provide evidence of application of the modules in a school setting will be eligible for credit of 10CP into the 5735 Master of Education program.
