Benefits of using the P–10 Planning app
Video transcript
The biggest benefit of the planning app has been the fact that we have consistency across the school.
We've got a central storage location for all of our resources.
We're able to quality assure everything that goes into that.
It gives me the the curriculum for the department at my fingertips.
It allows for really good quality in-depth conversations with staff around planning. It's just saved huge amounts of time.
We've recommended the app as a way of guiding teachers through the planning process of ensuring they include all the relevant details in their work.
I know that as I'm creating those templates, the the risk of making errors has been greatly reduced. We also find that being able to review each year level plan and assessment that's being created is a great way of ensuring quality.
We can see our year level descriptors. We can see our content descriptors and how they all align.
I think the app really helps beginning and early career teachers by pointing them directly where they need to be looking to ensure that they're covering their curriculum.
Teachers that were unfamiliar with the planning process or found it a challenge were really able to come on board and be coached through each element of planning.
The feedback function is really effective and then being able to then send it for approval once they've made some further changes. Teachers in my faculty couldn't get over the amount of workload that was reduced. It meant that they reduced the amount of time they had to spend on creating assessment tasks.
There's no more cut and paste of all the things. It's simply working your way through the app and ensuring everything is covered.
I think the greatest thing from using the app is that we've gone away from traditional ways of planning in Word documents and we've moved it to a very interactive and supportive method and that's really broken down the barriers for some of those staff that do find planning difficult.
My piece of advice would be to go in yourself, have a play, don't be frightened of it. It is very user friendly and it's become more user friendly as more features and functionality has become available.
It's very intuitive. It's not like you need a lot of training.
For schools that do find quality assurance difficult, I think that this is one of the most positive things we've ever had in planning.
It is so user friendly, you won't regret having a try.

Note: If your school does not have an Access Management Organisation Administrator, the school will need to submit a request for staff members to be allocated this role.
Step three: Access
Once the relevant role has been assigned to you, the P–10 Planning app tile will appear on your QCAA Portal homepage when you log in. Click on the tile to access the app and start planning.
