Cognitive verbs overviews

The cognitive verb overviews are resources that aim to put a spotlight on thinking in the Australian Curriculum learning areas from Prep to Year 10. They identify where cognitive verbs can be explicitly found within the achievement standard and content descriptions across learning areas/subjects for Prep to Year 10.

The learning area overviews provide schools with the big picture of the thinking that students are expected to use when they demonstrate what they know and can do.

The year level overviews compile the information for a particular year level from across all learning areas and provide specific information regarding the explicit thinking for classroom teachers.

There are 23 learning area/subject overviews, covering the eight learning areas in the Australian Curriculum. Overviews are also provided for each year level Prep–Year 10.
