Amendments have been made to the Legal Studies General Senior Syllabus 2019.
Objectives
The explanatory paragraphs for all syllabus objectives have been amended for clarity.
Unit objectives have been amended for clarity.
Summative internal assessment 1 (IA1): Examination — combination response
Assessment objectives 1, 3 and 4 have been amended to better describe the assessment requirements.
The specifications and conditions of the assessment have been amended to ensure consistency across the syllabus.
The instrument-specific marking guide has been amended to better describe the evidence required.
Summative internal assessment 2 (IA2): Investigation — inquiry report
Assessment objectives 1–5 have been amended to better describe the assessment requirements.
The specifications and conditions of the assessment have been amended to ensure consistency across the syllabus.
The instrument-specific marking guide has been amended to better describe the evidence required.
Summative internal assessment 3 (IA3): Investigation — argumentative essay
Assessment objectives 1–5 have been amended to better describe the assessment requirements.
The specifications and conditions of the assessment have been amended to ensure consistency across the syllabus.
The instrument-specific marking guide has been amended to better describe the evidence required.
Summative external assessment (EA): Examination — combination response
The specifications and the summary of the external assessment have been amended to allow for flexibility in the external assessment.
Subject matter
Subject matter has been modified as follows:
- subject matter has been clarified to align with unit objectives
- ‘e.g.’ has replaced ‘such as’
- Unit 3 and Unit 4 — reference to Queensland laws has been included in the unit description and subject matter.
Assessment guidance
Unit 1 and Unit 2 guidance has been amended to support schools, especially those that may decide to implement a concurrent delivery model.
Reporting standards
The A–E reporting standards have been amended for clarity.
The Legal Studies General Senior Syllabus 2019 (v1.1) and associated resources are available in the QCAA Portal. The syllabus is also available on the QCAA website.
