P–10 Planning app — make planning and assessment easier

Plan more efficiently using the QCAA P–10 Planning app!
Register now for our webinars:
- Exploring new unit planning functionality unpacks how the app can be used to align school planning and assessment including the unit planning functionality, year level or band curriculum and assessment planning and data summaries.
- Planning for a range of learners using unit planning explores how the app’s new unit planning functionality can support teachers to implement quality inclusive planning processes for the range of learners in the classroom.

Design accessible assessment for all learners
Join us in the webinar Designing accessible assessment and adjustments for all learners in P–10. We will share key messages from recent workshops and introduce a process for designing accessible and adjusted assessment tasks.
English — sharpen strategies for teaching and assessing writing

Two free webinars on English will focus on Improving writing through text structure and organisation (Years 3–6) and Understanding stages and phases of texts (Years 7–10). Join us to unpack how understanding text stages and phases can strengthen the teaching and assessment of writing.
Mathematics — build stronger assessment and marking practices

We have two free Mathematics webinars. ‘Creating exam questions using complexity and familiarity’ helps teachers design high-quality assessment questions and build a shared understanding of effective assessment practice. There are sessions for Prep–Year 2, Years 3–6 and Years 7–10.
Approaches to marking examinations discusses how to make valid and reliable judgments against Mathematics achievement standards in Years 7–10.
Multi-age classes — develop practical strategies for effective planning
Effective planning in a multi-age context explores how to use QCAA resources to plan and assess, with practical classroom examples.
Connected curriculum — engage students through purposeful links
Connecting curriculum purposefully across learning areas/subjects in P–6 explores how linking concepts and big ideas can deepen student engagement and learning.
General capabilities — embed knowledge, skills, behaviours and dispositions into learning areas
Integrating the general capabilities into learning area content can help students develop vital skills and dispositions. Eight sessions will focus on how to embed each capability into P–10 planning:
- Critical and creative thinking
- Personal and social
- Digital literacy
- Intercultural understanding
- Ethical understanding.
Cross-curriculum priorities — connect learning to real-world contexts
Cross-curriculum priorities connect learning to local, national and global contexts. Our webinars cover all three priorities across P–10:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures
- Asia and Australia’s engagement with Asia
- Sustainability.
Assessment literacy — build confidence in assessment
The QCAA’s assessment literacy courses now cover Prep–Year 10. Our webinars in November discuss the courses for P–6 and Years 7–10 and are ideal for those looking to make the most of our free training package and courses to strengthen their assessment practice.
Our latest course for Years 7–10 teachers is ‘Designing and constructing assessment tasks’. You can find it in the Learning Hub app in the QCAA Portal.

Curriculum and assessment resources — plan with clarity
Sequence of achievement standards aspects

Sequence of achievement standards aspects documents are now available for all P–10 learning areas. Teachers can use these resources to:
- plan for the range of learners in a single year level or band
- determine appropriate curriculum access points for all students
- deepen understanding of aspects of achievement standards by exploring their introduction, progression and conclusion.
You'll find the documents on the Australian Curriculum v9.0 tab of each learning area or subject webpage under the Achievement standards and content descriptions drop down heading.

Range and balance of texts
Are you starting to think about your text selection for 2026? While teachers know their students, and are best placed to choose texts, our resources will help you reflect on the range and balance of texts within and across year levels.
Advice documents for P–6 and 7–10 can be found under the Planning tab in the P–10 English learning area.
Planning for and assessing reading
If you missed our recent P–2 English webinars or would like a recap, our new resources capture what was said about planning for reading and ways to assess student achievement. The presentation slides and transcripts are under the PD resources tab in the P–10 English learning area.
Science conference — connect with colleagues and thought leaders
The QCAA is delighted to be presenting at the QUT–STAQ Senior Science Day at the QUT Gardens Point Campus on Wednesday 26 November. The overarching theme is Explicit and Inquiry Teaching.
The QCAA’s Cath Menzler and Amber Salmon will offer a comprehensive overview of science education across Years 7–12, and spark conversations about coherence, continuity and alignment. We hope to see you there.
