Supporting Authentic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Perspectives in Curriculum Planning

There are a range of education resource guides available to support educators and schools with embedding the perspectives of Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the classroom. This guide aims to support educators in selecting, evaluating, and implementing the perspectives and histories of Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a way that respects cultural protocol and promotes authenticity.

To assist educators and schools with selecting relevant resources, the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) developed the guide to evaluating and selecting education resources. Further, Narragunnawalli also provides a guide for evaluating resources for specific subjects and learning areas.

The resource links provided below are available to support planning, development and delivery of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cross-Curriculum Priority, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Senior Course and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Language Short Course.

The following resource guides provide a starting point, however it is recommended that educators also do their own research and resource selection after developing an understanding about authenticity and cultural protocols through personal and professional development.
